Our Story
The Blind Spot began as a small family business with a big vision — to bring high-quality, custom window coverings into homes across North Jersey with expert care and a personal touch. Founded by Andy Gorstein in 1982, the company built its name on old-school craftsmanship, honest service, and an eye for design that helped countless customers turn their houses into homes.
Today, The Blind Spot continues to grow with the next generation. Andy’s son Jack has joined the team, bringing a fresh, modern edge while honoring the same values the business was built on. Together, this father-and-son duo delivers a seamless, stress-free experience — from personalized in-home consultations to flawless installations.

The Blind Spot is a proudly fourth-generation family business, originally founded by Andy Gorstein’s grandfather in 1943 in New York City. Andy joined the business full-time in the 1980s after growing up around window coverings and recognizing a growing demand for custom blinds at competitive prices.
In 1987, he officially launched The Blind Spot, offering a unique “Showroom on Wheels” model that brought fully functional window treatments directly to clients’ homes and offices. By keeping overhead low, Andy has always been able to offer premium products—exclusively from Hunter Douglas—at exceptional value.
Now working alongside his son Jack, Andy continues to provide hands-on service and expert consultations, helping customers find the perfect balance of style, function, and affordability.

Having grown up immersed in the world of window coverings, Jack learned the ins and outs of the trade by watching and working alongside his father, Andy.
Now fully involved in the business, Jack is focused on elevating The Blind Spot’s online presence, expanding its reach, and maintaining the company’s legacy of personalized, in-home service. He combines a sharp eye for design with a commitment to delivering a smooth, no-pressure experience for every client.
